He averaged 28 points per game in two contests, including a game-winning layup that helped Saint John eke out a 102-101 victory over Oshawa, thus getting the Mill Rats into the postseason for the second consecutive season. Week of March 10th, 2013![]() Omari Johnson - Summerside Storm Johnson, a 6'9" 225 centre who played his collegiate ball at Oregon State, was instrumental in Summerside's three wins this week, leading the Storm to the Atlantic Division title and a playoff berth. He averaged 29.3 points per game in those three wins, including a 34-point, 13-rebound night as Summerside defeated Oshawa 105-100 on Thursday, March 7. Week of March 3rd, 2013![]() Isaac Butts - Moncton Miracles Butts, a 6'10" centre who played his collegiate ball at Appalachian State (North Carolina), scored the first triple-double in the NBL this season, when, in a Monday night contest against Halifax in Moncton's last home game of the season, he scored 23 points, pulled down 20 rebounds and blocked 10 shots. Week of February 24th, 2013![]() Marvin Phillips - London Lightning Phillips, a 6’7” forward who played his collegiate basketball at Claflin University (South Carolina), averaged 25 points and 15 rebounds in three London victories this week, including scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds in London's 118-114 overtime win over the Summerside Storm on Saturday night. Week of February 17th, 2013![]() Isaac Butts - Moncton Miracles Butts, a 6'10" centre who played his collegiate ball at Appalachian State (North Carolina), achieved a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds in Moncton's 110-106 road victory on Thursday, February 14 against the Summerside Storm. Week of February 10th, 2013![]() Marvin Phillips - London Lightning Phillips, a 6’7” forward who played his collegiate basketball at Claflin University (South Carolina), averaged 20 points per game in two big road victories for London, allowing the Lightning to earn a playoff berth for the second consecutive year. Phillips’ big game came on February 7, when he came off the bench to score 29 points in London’s 102-92 victory over the Moncton Miracles. Week of February 3rd, 2013![]() Melvin Goins - Halifax Rainmen Goins, a 5'11 guard who played his college ball as the University of Tennessee, came off the bench to score 22 points and pull down 10 rebounds in Halifax's 108-103 Thursday night home victory against the Moncton Miracles. Week of January 27th, 2013![]() Anthony Anderson - Saint John Mill Rats In three Saint John wins on three consecutive days, Anderson increased his scoring totals each game - starting with 20 points and 14 assists on Thursday night in a double-overtime 133-122 win over Moncton; then in a 135-127 home win over Windsor, Anderson scored 26 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and had three steals. Anderson capped off the week with a 31-point effort in a Saturday night road win against Montreal. Week of January 20th, 2013![]() Nick Okorie - Oshawa Power Okorie, a 6’1” guard who played his college ball at Texas Tech, averaged 30.25 points per game in four Oshawa contests, including three road victories. His big week included 37 points in a win over Halifax, as well as a 32-point effort in a come-from-behind victory Sunday afternoon against Summerside. Week of January 13th, 2013![]() Devin Sweetney - Moncton Miracles Sweetney, a 6'6" forward who played his college ball at St. Francis of Pennsylvania, averaged 28.6 points per game in three Moncton contests this week, including a 36-point effort in Moncton's Sunday night 116-105 triumph over the Saint John Mill Rats. Week of January 6th, 2013![]() Eric Frederick - Montreal Jazz Frederick, a 6'8" 235-pound forward who played his college ball at Texas Wesleyan, was instrumental in Montreal's two wins this week - the first two wins for the franchise. He averaged 26.3 points per game in three games against the Windsor Express, and finished with 35 points in Montreal's Sunday night victory over Oshawa. Week of December 30th, 2012![]() Chris Commons - Windsor Express Commons, a 6’8” forward who played his collegiate ball at South Carolina-Aiken, was instrumental in Windsor’s two victories in three games this week. On Friday night against the Oshawa Power, Commons scored 19 points off the bench. He also added another 16 points against the London Lightning on Saturday, and then scored 26 points in 43 minutes of play in Windsor’s 108-102 victory over the Lightning on Sunday afternoon. Week of December 23rd, 2012![]() Elvin Mims - London Lightning Mims, a 6’5” forward from Southern Mississippi, was the lead scorer in two of London’s three wins this week, including a 28-point burst in London’s 104-85 victory over Windsor on December 20. He also led the team in rebounds on Saturday night, pulling down 17 boards in London’s 105-84 win over the Montreal Jazz. Week of December 16th, 2012![]() Nick Okorie - Oshawa Power Okorie, a 6’1” guard who played his college ball at Texas Tech, helped Durham’s Team win two key games this week. In addition to averaging 27 points per game during that span, he also scored 38 points in Oshawa’s 105-101 victory over the division-leading London Lightning, as Oshawa handed their provincial rivals their first regular season loss. Okorie was also perfect from the free throw line, going 12-for-12 over that two game span. Week of December 9th, 2012![]() Quinnel Brown - Halifax Rainmen While Brown, a 6’6” 210-pound forward from Auburn, averaged 13 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games this weekend, it was his last-second heroics in an 87-84 Friday night victory over the Oshawa Power that earned him the Player of the Week accolades. With seconds remaining on the clock and Oshawa with possession, Brown stole the ball and heaved a shot from three-quarters of the length of the court. The ball landed in the cylinder, and the Rainmen won in a highlight shot that has received worldwide recognition in the basketball world. The shot even made TSN’s “Highlight of the Night!” Week of December 2nd, 2012![]() Darren Duncan - Windsor Express Duncan, a 5’11” guard who played his college ball at Merrimack, joined the Express in a midseason trade from Halifax, and has already paid off dividends. In two games this week, including a 96-84 victory over Summerside, Duncan averaged 26 points per game including six three-pointers. Week of November 25th, 2012![]() Devin Sweetney - Moncton Miracles Sweetney, a 6’6” forward who played his college ball at St. Francis of Pennyslvania, averaged 23.6 points per game in three Moncton contests this week, including two wins. He was the top scorer in Moncton’s last two games, including 32 points in a loss to Summerside, and a 32-point night, including five 3-pointers, in an 89-74 victory over Montreal. Week of November 18th, 2012![]() Morgan Lewis - London Lightning Lewis, a 6’5” 210-pound shooting guard from the University of Findley, scored in double figures in all three of London’s victories this week. On Thursday night’s 153-115 London victory over Oshawa, Lewis scored 13 points, pulled down 7 rebounds and dished out 8 assists. He improved his totals Saturday night in a 134-86 London triumph over the Montreal Jazz; in that game, Lewis scored 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the floor. In London’s 79-76 road victory over Montreal on Sunday evening, Lewis had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds; Lewis was also nearly perfect from the free throw line, going 9-for-10 from the charity stripe. Week of November 11th, 2012![]() Greg Plummer - Summerside Storm Plummer, a 6’3” guard from Eckerd, scored 27 points in Summerside’s 106-96 victory over the Saint John Mill Rats, a win in which Summerside rallied from 19 points behind in the fourth quarter to win. Plummer also scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and three steals in Summerside’s 103-94 road victory over the Moncton Miracles on Saturday, November 10th. Summerside now has a 3-0 record and is in first place in the NBL’s Atlantic Division. Week of November 4th, 2012Tyrone Levett - Moncton Miracles Levett, a 6’6” forward from Alabama State, helped Moncton achieve its first Opening Day victory in club history. On Sunday, November 4th, Levett scored 28 points in a 99-83 victory over Montreal; Levett went 7-for-15 from the floor and 10-for-11 from free-throw range; he also scored four three pointers. |
